Tim H.'s Wooden Cross

This wooden cross is a symbol of peace and solidarity.

It gave me focus when I attended a protest this summer. I wanted to attend others, but I didn't know if it was a space I belonged in.

During the protest, a Black police officer told me about the complex problems facing Black families. He helped me realize I could be part of positive change by encouraging white friends to listen more deeply to what the Black community says about their experiences with racism.

When I hold my cross, I think of Christ's call to promote unity. It's my motivation to battle injustice.
